On November 1, 2021, The Woman Clothed With the Sun group was elevated to Lay Dominican Chapter within the Central Province of Saint Albert the Great (pictured left in green).
In 2019 a group of us were considered to be a “general affiliation” of the parent Lay Dominican chapter of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Louisville, Kentucky. We were under their direct authority and working as a “transitory structure” of the Louisville chapter.
In 2020, at the behest of our local bishop, the Most Reverend Joseph M. Siegel, we began the twofold process of transferring our individual memberships from the Eastern Province (St. Joseph) and forming a Chapter in the Central Province (St. Albert the Great).
As of November 1, 2021, our transfer has been completed and we have been formally recognized by the Very Reverend James V. Marchionda, OP, as a Chapter in Evansville, Indiana, under the title The Woman Clothed With The Sun. Our Dominican Letter of Approval is shown below.
Since November of 2021, many have become part of our Lay Dominican community as we continue to grow by the grace of God and with our Lady's intercession.
Dominican formations and several forms of Catholic prayer and devotions take place in our Indiana Cardinal Upper Room Oratory, allowing us to engage in the four pillars of the Dominican Lay Fraternity life. It is also where we observe some of our daily spiritual obligations, as well as yearly Lay Dominican retreats.
