If you are considering a Lay Dominican vocation, you are welcome to come and observe our monthly meeting. We meet the 1st Saturday of every month in our Dominican Private Oratory where we have Dominican formation and activities, and engage in the 4 Pillars of the Dominican Lay Fraternity life, which are Prayer, Study, Apostolate and Community. It is also where we observe some of our daily obligations like the Holy Rosary and the Liturgy of the Hours.
* All times listed are Central Standard Time (CST)
1st Saturday of every month
We also pray the Rosary live online midday every weekday and offer a variety of other ways to join us in prayer. You can pray with us via livestream.
When Saint Dominic founded the Order of Preachers, he included not only the friars and nuns but also ordinary lay people. We were first called the "Third Order", but today we are known as Lay Dominicans. Driven by the same love of truth that marks our religious brothers and sisters, we live out our Dominican charism in our homes, at our workplaces, and on the streets.
Every baptized and confirmed Catholic is called to evangelize. The call to be a Lay Dominican is more focused: a way of life rooted in prayer and study, bearing fruit in community and a preaching apostolate.
Do you like to read and study? Are you seeking a deeper life in Christ while living in the world? Do you yearn for others to understand and choose the truth of Christ over the lies of the world? Discernment is an important part of any formation, and we will help you every step of the way. Come and check us out. You might find that you, too, are called to preach.
If you feel called to the Dominican Apostolate as a Lay person, the most important thing you can do is reach out to our community and speak with someone who can assist you in furthering your discernment.
